Two months ago, on the last day of the last holiday of the new-year cycle of Jewish holiday, Simchat Torah, my daughter dragged me there, saying we would have a good time and they serve a dynamite kiddush. I came for those things and stayed for the experience. I enjoy the people, I enjoy the sense of dedication we share, praying as we do each morning on the outskirts of the LES Jewish enclave. This morning we had 12 men for the morning service. It was fantastic. Other mornings we're still struggling. But I'm definitely there to stay, God willing. Are there any Reform or Conservative synagogues in the area? It strikes me there are plenty of non-Orthodox and there needs are not being met. I know of 14th Street, but that is a bit out of the tchum (area).
I know Stanton Street is trying to meet the needs of some who might not feel comfortable in the more traditional shuls in the area but it is (albeit the limits of) still an Orthodox shul.

Stanton is the closest thing to a Conservative joint in this part of town.

There's a roving egalitarian minyan called Kol HaKfar that meets in various apartments, often in the East Village. It's not usually in the LES proper, but it's closer than 14th Street.
